Don't ask me how I'm doing if you don't want to know
I stayed up too late, woke up late, oh you know how it goes
Give off the vibe that everything's fine
as long as you, long as you don't look in my eye
It's all going just so perfectly wrong
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's all mine this kind the life of hurry up and wait
Too many things to do, to lose it gets a little insane
Too much crazy in 24 hours
So many bills, too little frills, and not enough flowers
What I wouldn't give for a minute to myself ...
Rach had spent all night replaying Assassins Creed. She already had the next game pre-ordered and was running out of time to replay all the other games. Between classes, homework and working she barely had a moment to herself. She had gotten a little addicted to say the least with the particular segment of the game and hadn’t realized what time it was. Rach woke up the next morning to the blaring of her alarm on her cell. It was a Saturday so she didn’t miss class. She opened one eye then the other turning on her side to read what the notice said. ‘Work’, Rach flipped off the couch and staggered to her feet as she slid to unlock the iphone4 before running down the hallway to the shower. She had barely made it on time to work sporting her infamous green apron. She was tired but she knew how to fake it. It came with being a college student. Sometimes bags were the latest fashion. If you didn’t have bags then you were obviously lacking something, most likely a social life—Or you just played one too many video games. Rach could have been spending her time doing something productive like finding an internship like Sterling had been hounding her to do but she only had so many days before the next game out. It was truly crunch time. Rach handed out her last Venti Vanilla Bean before being able to clock out. She often stayed behind and worked a little bit after work. It was a lot quieter than going home.
Rach clocked out throwing the apron over her shoulder and pulling the visor off her head before tugging her backpack to the corner booth. She watched from her spot as her co-workers quickly shifted positions at the counter giving every person a turn at mixing because glory that was the dream job right there. Rach quickly pulled out of her Mac before flipping up the screen. She yawned once as she saw her e-mail had six e-mails. Her eyes quickly scanned the page as she realized a few different people had responded to her intern inquiries. She didn’t think it would be that fast. She didn’t really thing someone would hire her Starbucks working self. Especially for a paid internship; Rach had been involved in the fourth estate with the IC group last year and this e-mail was from a Lexie A. detailing an internship that had opened up she was so excited! She could truly be working alongside some of her heros. That’s when she scrolled and it said San Diego, CA. Well, she could do that if she took a semester off. Sterling claimed that many internships were possible to do online. Rach continued to scroll through the various e-mails. Jamie wrote back from TWLOHA but her internship was in NYC. Then Sean from Falling Whistles responded but his internship was in Georgia.
Rach groaned slumping back in her seat as she continued scrolling until she landed on a different internship from Lexie A. that was helping with the website and surveying of the new product MEND a line of handbags that were produced by the woman in Uganda. Rach quickly sat up scrolling to the bottom as she read the requirements. She twisted the black bracelet around her hand, the long raven hair covering her eyes as she read making her constantly shove it to the side when she realized she had to move on this. That’s when she saw the ending comment. “Degree in:” She didn’t have a degree yet! Rach returned to her slumped position as the bell started ringing off the hook for entering customers. The small corner café was going to fill up and since she wasn’t exactly a customer her boss would probably even ask her to leave. Rach leaned her elbow on the table before groaning and slumping even further letting her head lay on the keyboard so maybe it was just one of those days. Maybe if she stopped stressing over everything and got Sterling to leave her alone maybe with a little persuasion by Vincent she would be able to just go home and play some video games. Deep inside though Rach knew she needed an internship she just didn’t know how or why someone would pick her?
Hey hey hey hey
What can I say
It's just been one of those
One of those days
